Description
Tandoori chicken is a beloved dish with roots in the Indian subcontinent, known for its vibrant color and rich, smoky flavor. The hallmark of tandoori chicken is its extensive marination. This typically involves yogurt and a blend of spices known as tandoori masala. The yogurt tenderizes the chicken, while the spices infuse it with deep, complex flavors.
Traditionally, tandoori chicken is cooked in a tandoor, a cylindrical clay oven. The intense heat of the tandoor gives the chicken its characteristic smoky flavor and charred exterior. However, it can also be cooked in a conventional oven, on a grill, or even in an air fryer.
The steps for using Shan Tandoori Masala for preparing delicious tandoori chicken are listed below.
- Mix lemon juice, food color, Shan Tandoori Masala Mix and 2 tablespoons oil / butter. Apply to chicken pieces. Prick all over the meat. Set aside for 30 minutes.
- Apply strained yogurt and set aside for 3 hours or more.
- Arrange the pieces in a tray and discard the marinade. Bake in a preheated oven, (350°F) for 25 minutes. Apply remaining oil / melted butter on chicken and place the tray under high setting of grill until lightly brown or barbecue.
Serving Suggestion: Serve hot Chicken Tandoori with Shan Tamarind / Green Chutney.
