Roasted Chana or Gram – also known as Bengal gram or Kala Chana – is a commonly used low diet snack in India. Gram takes longer time to digest and hence it can fend off hunger for a long time. Roasted gram is very low in calories and a good source of carbohydrates, protein, moisture, lube, fibre, calcium, iron and many other vitamins. Roasted Chana has a very low glycaemic index which does not increase blood sugar. This is one of the reason roasted Chana is considered a good snack for people with diabetics.
