Description
Garam masala is usually found as a blend of ground spices, originating from South Asia, common in Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan and Afghan cuisines. Typical content of Garam Masala mix contain Cumin, Coriander, Green and Black Cardamom, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Cloves, Bay leaves, Peppercorns, Fennel and Mace. They are roasted together and then ground to fine powder to form Garam Masala Powder.
However, some prefer to have the whole spices roasted and ground to make the garam masala powder on-demand. This method enhances the flavors more than the already ground spice mix while involving a little more extra work. The whole garam masala mix contains all the raw material in its unprocessed form. This mix can then be dry roasted and ground to powder form to create garam masala powder.
