Idiyappam, also known as string hopper, nool puttu, or noolappam, chomai, indiappa is a rice noodle dish originating from the Indian states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala as well as Srilanka. It consists of rice flour pressed into noodles, woven into a flat disc-like shape and steamed. This flour is specially made for making these dishes easily. Pathiri is a pancake made of rice flour. It is part of the local cuisine among the Mappilas of North Malabar and South Malabar in Kerala State of Southern India. Today, pathiri is still a popular dish among the Muslims in Kerala.
