Description
Sambar is a lentil and vegetable stew made with pigeon pea lentils, tamarind and a unique spice blend called sambar powder. It is a popular dish in South Indian cuisine, and is also enjoyed in other parts of India and the world.
Sambar is typically made with a variety of vegetables, such as tomatoes, onions, carrots, eggplant, and drumsticks. The lentils are cooked until they are soft, and then the vegetables are added and cooked until tender. The tamarind gives the sambar a sour and tangy flavor, while the sambar powder adds a complex and aromatic flavor profile.
Sambar is typically served with rice or idli, and is often accompanied by other South Indian dishes, such as rasam, chutney, and papad. It is a popular dish for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
